NorthMail Business FAQ
These are the same setup principles as NorthMail main FAQ, adapted for business accounts with custom domains.
NorthMail Business is for organizations that already own their domain and want professional email on that domain.
If you need personal @northmail.ca accounts, use northmail.ca.
You can install our mobile apps and sign in with your full business email address:
- iPhone / iPad: Download from the App Store
- Android: Download from Google Play
Go to cloud.northmail.ca, then sign in with your full mailbox address (example: name@yourdomain.com) and mailbox password.
You can also use the Login to mailbox button shown next to each mailbox on the Mailboxes page.
- Install NorthCloud from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in with your NorthMail credentials.
- Open Settings, then Auto upload.
- Enable photo/video auto-upload and choose the destination folder.
- Windows: download the NorthCloud desktop client: https://northmail.ca/NorthCloud-3.13.4.0-x64.msi.
- Mac: download the NorthCloud desktop client: https://northmail.ca/NorthCloud-3.13.4.dmg.
- Linux: download the NorthCloud desktop client: https://northmail.ca/NorthCloud_Desktop-x86_64.AppImage.
Each business mailbox includes up to 100 GB of storage.
The maximum email size, including attachments, is 25 MB.
- Log in and open your Profile page.
- In the MFA section, choose Authenticator App.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app.
- Enter the 6-digit code and save.
- IMAP (incoming): mail.northmail.ca — Port 993 — SSL
- SMTP (outgoing): mail.northmail.ca — Port 465 — SSL
Use your full business email address as username (e.g. user@yourdomain.com).
The recommended method is to copy or move emails between two IMAP accounts in Thunderbird or Outlook.
- Add both mailboxes in Thunderbird or Outlook using IMAP (not POP), then wait for full sync.
- Create destination folders if needed.
- Select messages (or folders) in the source mailbox.
- Use Copy To or Move To (or drag-and-drop) to the destination mailbox.
- Keep the app open until synchronization/upload is complete.
- Confirm everything in webmail before deleting old messages.
Tip: For large migrations, process in batches (for example 500-1000 emails at a time).
- Open Settings then Mail.
- Go to Accounts and tap Add Account.
- Select Other, then Add Mail Account.
- Enter your name, your full business email address, and your password.
- Select IMAP.
- Incoming server: host mail.northmail.ca, username = full email, password = your password.
- Outgoing server: host mail.northmail.ca, same username and password.
- Save and test synchronization.
- Open the Gmail app.
- Tap your profile icon then Add another account.
- Choose Other.
- Enter your full business email address.
- Select Personal (IMAP).
- Incoming server: mail.northmail.ca (SSL, port 993).
- Outgoing server: mail.northmail.ca (SSL, port 465).
- Use your full email address and password for both incoming and outgoing settings.
- Open the Add account wizard in FairEmail.
- Enter your name, full business email address, and password.
- FairEmail usually auto-detects the server settings.
- If needed, manually set incoming/outgoing server to mail.northmail.ca.
